No matter what your age or condition, Pilates will work for you. It is an innovative and safe system of mind-body exercise using a floor mat or a variety of equipment. It builds strength without excess bulk and creates a sleek, toned body with full core and figure benefits. Additionally it teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement.
Joseph Pilates emigrated to USA in the early 1920s; during the Voyage he met Clara. Joseph and Clara opened a Fitness Studio in New York then, sharing an address with The New York City Ballet. In 1945, Joseph Pilates published a book called: “Return to Life Through Contrology”.
Contrology was the original name to Joseph’s exercise method. The name changed to “Pilates” after Joseph Pilates died in 1967 at the age of 87 years old.

With One to One sessions, initially I look to understand your requirements and needs by assessing your posture, movement and muscle control. A personalised programme will be tailored to target your areas of weakness and tightness.
The studio has the following equipment:
Pilates Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Combo Chair, Ladder Barrel, Swiss Balls, Bender Balls, Dyna Bands, Pilates Ring, TRX Suspension Training, Bosu, Rotatory Discs and Spine Corrector.
Your personal programme is constantly monitored and updated on a weekly basis. Pilates offer a personal, natural style of training – a fantastic way of encouraging yourself to either work to your own limits or at a remedial and slower pace.
It is a group class of 12 participants maximum per class, performing all the exercises without equipment. On a mat, we use small equipment such as: Dyna Bands, Tennis Balls, Bender Balls, Blocks and your own body weight as your maximum resistance. The classes are also great fun, with a variety of exercises programmed to challenge you. They are a great social activity; participants are always willing to share their experiences and have a great time.
All these classes are run by the block of four weeks. Advanced block booking is essential. You can join in at any point within a block and just pay for the remaining weeks of that block, then your block will be renewed on the 1st of every month. The block dates run week after week without any intervals apart from during the festival periods.
